Sea Camp Overview: The summer of 2018 will be our 9th year in operation. Virginia Beach Sea Camp is the summer camp that your child has been training for. We are in the water, in the kayaks, on the boards, netting fish and playing in the water and on the beach every day of camp. We focus on action. All of our camps strive to let students see, catch, touch and experience the amazing aquatic life in the beautiful waters that surround us while exploring marine habitats in the Lynnhaven River and Chesapeake Bay. We stress a positive environment where we watch out for one another and treat each other, and the creatures of the big blue sea, with respect. Our goal is to run safe, positive, fun camps that are one of your child’s best summer memories. All camps are led by one or more outdoor education expert and a host of experienced counselors.

Virginia Beach Sea Camps are provided by Oyster Reef Keepers of Virginia, Inc (ORKV). If your child has ever raised oysters in school, then they have participated in our award-winning Schools Restoring Oysters to the Chesapeake (SROC) program. To date, 125,000 students have transplanted over 9 million oysters to sanctuary reefs in Virginia rivers through this program over the last 18 years. Camp checks should be payable to Oyster Reef Keepers of Virginia (ORKV). Camp proceeds are used to support hands-on oyster education and restoration projects in local schools.

Sea Camp days run from 9 AM – 4 PM. All camps are 5-days long, unless noted. The main camp leaders are listed with each camp week. These leaders will be joined by additional Sea Camp counselors.
